Size Matters

Although we were disappointed to lose a day in Rimouski, we weren`t. It gave us the oppportunity to get some rest and some change from our usual marine lifestile. I also gave us the opportunity to get supplies and to meet a couple of people who were waiting for parts at the marina. Ann and Neil treated us to some tea and cookies hospitality, lively informative conversation and a valuable GPS lesson from Neil. Thanks Neil and thanks Ann for reminding me how refreshing the company of Halegonians is. Our navigation routine will now be more reliable in the unlikely situation of finding ourselves locked in bad weather or dense fog conditions.

We post this from a hotel bar in scenic Matane (Don`s connection availability is fading on his laptop, so we don`t know when we will be able to post again. This place (Matane, not the bar) is much bigger than either of us expected and really quite a lovely spot. It must be really nice when it is summertime here!

We hope to do another 50 miles tomorrow and the net has assured us that the winds will be in our favour, for a change.

Did I mention that Ann`s boat is a 40 footer with a spacious salon. We were struck by how much size matters when we got back to our little 22 foot day sailer.

That's it for now. Thanks again for tuning in to our little adventure.

  1. ahoy sailors! I am just catching up now, due to several reasons, but have been stricken down with a near-terminal case of jealousy. Way to go, boys! Cheers, Dave

In other news... I'm looking at the map, and adding days... and I have GOOD news!

Sydney is an 'ice-free' port 'til after Christmas!
