From now on the river will be known as MR, St. Laurent. He got our respect today. Started off at 5:15 A.M. to hit the tides at the narrows at Quebec at 1:00 P.M. Had to motor due to east winds. The winds built throughout the morning until the waves got so high we couldn't keep the motor in the water all the time. At this point we hoisted the small jib and motor sailed, tacking back and forth all day getting pounded. Arrived Quebec City at 3:30 to news that we should have favourable winds and weather tomorrow.
Sorry no update last night; couldn't get on line but in the small world category, Don met an old friend from high school who was crewing a small tall ship to Halifax. We saw each other in the Yacht Club office in Portneuf. Yacht Club at Portneuf also has a pretty nice restaurant.
After our experience today we wont be predicting where we'll get to tomorrow other than to say how did the people who discovered and explored North America do it without motors, charts, GPS's.
Please keep your cards and letters coming we enjoy reading your comments.
Salut for today.
