Lance a Buffy

After a morning of laundry, a local museum of sorts and killing time in the marina during a rainy and foggy day, we were met by Betty and Gordon, two friends of Don's from Hudson. Betty spends summers here with her mother in truly authentic seaside house in Barachois. We were treated to a visit at the house and a vehicle which provide us with some landbased sightseeing tomorrow, if the fog clears. We are anticipating a marina full of boats tonight as the weather forcast is calling for heavy weather and the Perce boats come here to avoid the exposure at Perce. It looks like we will be here until Monday morning when the weather will allow us to continue our journey. Our next sailing feat will be the crossing of the mouth of the Baie des Chaleurs. We are hoping that it will be warm enough to start putting some of our winter clothes back into our bags after the crossing.

Although we are clearly in Quebec still, the linguistic makeup of the area is mixed and often French names are anglisized in pronunciation, hence the title of this post.

Tomorrow will be a down day of trying to make other connections with extended family in the area and touring about a bit with Gord and Betty.

We will try to get some pictures on the site tomorrow.

Good night and thanks again for your encouraging comments.

  2. Great going, guys! Looks like a big patch of Blue coming up though! Can you see the other side?
Weather here was beautiful today, so if it holds you should have a good crossing. Looks like lots of places to hide if it gets rough.
I'll bet the scenery will be a lot different for a bit!
